Dear Olmert,Lamenting the continuous firing from Gaza, you said this in this morning's cabinet meeting:
או שיהיה שקט או שמדינת ישראל תפעל בעוצמה כזו שהיא בסופו של דבר תביא לשקט.
In english, this was translated:
Either there is quiet or the State of Israel will take strong action that will – in the end – bring quiet..
Strong action is the translation for Otzma (עוצמה) on the Prime Minister's Office Website. Otzma, however, can be a peaceful power. How about a powerful play for peace to bring quiet? Lord knows strong action just makes noise.
Why not make a powerful play for peace? Why not say so explicitly? Why not try?
